After an eye-catching run on the Sunshine Coast at her second run back from a spell, 3yo Filly has gone right on with the job and taken out the Mount Franklin QTIS Maiden Plate (1400m) at Eagle Farm today.

Her Sunshine Coast run wasn’t missed by punters who sent the daughter of Kiss And Make Up out as a short-priced elect.

Ridden confidently by Sean Cormack, Bernice’s Spirit jumped well and found a spot on the speed with Cormack always keeping the filly in the box seat.

Coming away at the top of the straight with fancied hope, Meat Pie Artie, Bernice’s Spirit found herself in a competitive contest against her male rival, with little more than head between the pair over the concluding stages.

The victory netted connections $70,000.00 in stakes, including a healthy $26,250.00 in QTIS bonus payments – an incentive the filly will be hunting more of in the future.
