Trainer Barry Lockwood is eager to learn if his exciting prospect Give Me Space can be just as effective over longer distances when he returns in the winter.
The three-year-old son of Cosmic Force burst onto the scene over the summer period, reeling off a highlight win in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate (1300m) before his flashing second behind Bosustow last Friday night in the lucrative Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m).
Following Friday night’s effort, Lockwood sent Give Me Space to the paddock and is set to target the Brisbane winter carnival midway through the year.
“He’s going to have a couple weeks in the paddock and then we’ll bring him back and aim for the winter,” Lockwood said.
“At this stage the (Queensland Guineas) is the main target and after that, we’ll see if he can stay or not.
“He’s a lovely horse that can reel off big sectionals so I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do and we do have a lot of options. Either way.”
A $75,000 purchase at the 2023 Gold Coast Magic Millions sales, Give Me Space has returned more than $800,000 in prizemoney after just seven starts.
