The newly formed training partnership of Barry Lockwood and Emma-Jane “E.J.” Vincent celebrated their first win when Pre Eminence powered to victory in the Madison Facility Services Benchmark 78 Handicap (1,000 m) at Eagle Farm.
Jumping from gate four, apprentice jockey Core Sutherland had Pre Eminence in the box seat during the run, before easing wide in the straight and running down the leading and winning by long neck.
It made it two wins from as many starts this season for Pre Eminence, who continues to build an impressive record, having now won five races, and placed a further six occasions, from just the thirteen career starts and continued the successful association with Pre Eminence’s owners, Ron and Judy Wanless.
“I’ve had a bit of success with Ron since I started training a few for him about 10 months ago,” Lockwood said.
“He’s a great owner to train for and a great bloke to work with.
“I’ve had a few winners for Ron and Judy and hopefully there’s more to come.”
